We traveled as a couple in may 2015. Seascape and the Sunset apt were exactly what they were made out to be and exceeded all our expectations. The unit is very clean, breezy, comfortable and safe. The seabreeze eliminated any need for air conditioning and neither of us were ever too warm. The views from the living room/dining table were amazing. Sitting on the upstairs patio watching the sunset was a highlight of our entire trip and possibly the nicest view I have seen in all my travels. The view is spectacular down the hilly coast and overlooking the beach and bay where stingrays could be seen swimming mere feet from shore and hundreds of birds dive for fish while other brightly colored ones would land right on the railing. We cooked most of our meals in the apartment and it felt as if we were staying in our own cottage.

The town itself is quite nice as well. Neither of us felt unsafe walking, even at night. The locals we did meet were friendly and Castara has a very traditional, relaxed fishing village feel. No starbucks or McDonalds. The town is quite hilly so if mobility is limited that could be a concern. We had no trouble however.

Englishmans Bay, which was totally empty, is a short drive away and worth a trip. The castara waterfall with its fish and freshwater crabs is also a must see and just a short peaceful walk through the woods.

Booking with the Owner David was exceedingly simply, all emails were responded to within hours. The onsite husband and wife managers were very pleasant, helpful and were easy to get ahold of.

We would certainly recommend making Seascape your accommodation if you are looking to get away from tourist traps and really feel at home in a beautiful setting.

Totally agree with other reviews on this site. The video on the apartment's website shows you exactly what to expect and the apartment delivers. Great views, the sound of the waves underneath you, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Excellent support from Rolling and Lavorne.

Alec from Norway, visited in February 2015

My wife and I stayed at seascape, wavesong for 9 nights in February and we loved it. The view from the balcony is second to none, the birds that came a visited us there were beautiful and there was a great variety, in fact we saw far more birds from our balcony than we did on the rainforest walk we went on. The rooms were light and clean and furnished to suit all our needs. The property managers Lavern and Rolling were very friendly and helpful! The location is excellent, just a 2 minute walk from little bay and a 5 minute walk from the big beach. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Castara and hope back again someday soon!

1st time ever in Tobago, stayed at Seascape, Sunset apt... and had an amazing vacation. Seascape is exactly as portrayed on the website. We were very comfortable, very little bugs bothered us at night, and the people in Castara were very friendly, and helpful when we had questions. LaVorne and Rolling(Managers) stopped in all the time to see if we needed anything. David(owner) answered our multiple questions prior to our arrival, and steered us in the right direction for Diving(Ritchie)...the diving was superb! He had great equipment and was very safe. We found Roachie for our Rainforest guide...he was incredible! Called a ton of sought after birds in!!!! Eamon in Black Rock for Mt Biking! We did rent a car..LaVorne helped us out with that..Keno...very nice car and fair price. The driving is pretty crazy, but worth it. Englishmans Bay is just a 10 min drive and well worth it. Everywhere we drove, people went out of their way to help us out(there are very little signs) Never ever felt unsafe in any of the towns...people greeted us w smiles everywhere(sometimes laughing at us, I'm sure)

Our favorite meals......Hazel and Binky have a little market(lots of fresh fruit/veggies)t at the top of the hill...have to go meet them...they also serve food, something different everyday...definitely worth stopping in. Also loved DeAlmond on the beach, and Castara Retreats.

Also made a trip to the Waterfall almost everyday...just follow the path by the soccer field...Refreshing way to end the day.

Note about accessibility...I do not think this is the place for anyone who may have a hard time getting around(young&old). Lots of steep stairs, uneven rocky stairs, etc. We loved it, but were a little relieved that our 2 year old granddaughter was not w us, or I could not imagine my parents trying to negotiate the rocky stairs at night, coming home from restaurants.
I see some reviews about the noise of the village at night...well... you are staying at a village on the ocean...I personally loved every single noise I heard...roosters, dogs, lots of birds and yes of course, waves, sometimes so loud, that they wake you...but to us, it was all part of an amazing community...I hope it always stays exactly like it is, and tourists, don't try to change this beautiful village.( or Castara will try to change for tourist preferences). Please do not build any condos, or try to squeeze more rental homes in...leave it as is.

My husband and I have recently returned from a short stay at Seascape. This epitomised what a true vacation is all about: going to sleep and waking to the sounds of the waves; looking at the Stingrays and fishes swimming below; enjoying the calm, crystal clear waters and just being at peace with nature. The wooden structure of the building certainly added to the feeling of calmness and serenity. This place now ranks as one of our top vacation spots and we certainly look forward to returning.
In addition, we appreciated the quick response of David through emails as well as the interactions with Rollings (mainly over the phone) and Laverne (in person). Thanks for the fruit tokens. They were greatly appreciated.

I have never spent so many hours gazing at a view!! Seascape is in prime position to enjoy the views of the beautiful bay. When we weren’t looking out to sea we went snorkelling in the bay –we saw a turtle, stingray and lots of beautiful fish. Roachee took us to the rainforest and on a boat trip to Nylon Pool- he’s great - defiantly book with him. On our last day I read a previous guests tip to turn another tap on whilst using the shower as it’s a bit weak!! (hope that helps) Restaurant options are a bit limited in Castara so it’s great to have a self catered apartment. Wish I was still there – have a wonderful time

This place was absolutely beautiful. It was a little oasis, little piece of heaven right on the beach. It was modern yet in keeping with the natural surroundings. The view from the sitting/kitchen area was breath taking and the view from the upper bedroom was amazing. We slept with out balcony doors open and felt the fresh breeze and crashing waves of the ocean all night. I hadn;t realized how loud the sea can be. It felt like we were floating. Great location and had everything you needed. Roland and Levonne were completely non-intrusive but always ready and available to help right when you need. We'll definitely been back. This is my first review ever and I was compelled to write because our experience was so amazing here.

Trini from U.S.A. visited in December 2012

We spent four days between Christmas and New Year's at Seascape and had a lovely time. The cottage is comfortably appointed, well designed and extremely clean but the view was the real star of the show - it is spectacular! Between the view and the ever-present sound of the waves, this was one of the most restful vacations I've had in a long time. Heavenly Bay is a 3 minute walk away, and Castara bay a slightly more strenuous 8 minute walk. Englishman's Bay is also a short drive away for a change of scenery (not that we needed one). Rolling and LaVern were easily reached after their initial visit - making sure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately, we missed the Village baking days at the clay oven, but were able to special order astoundingly good fresh-baked bread from Miss Hazel through the Bingi Fruit Stand at the top of the street - I heartily recommend it for breakfast with fresh fruit on the deck. This is our second visit to Castara and it will not be the last ...

Seascape is a fantastic apartment in an unbeatable location. Great views , lovely bedrooms and bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. With a 5 year-old and a baby learning to crawl we were well-provided with a cot and high chair and had no worries over containing the kids safely from balconies etc. A toddler or child prone to climbing would be more of a challenge as the stairs to the top floor are easily accessible and open at the side. Steep steps up to the apartment from the road are worth the climb to stay at such a vantage point. Not pram-friendly - take a sling.

David the owner and Rolling the local contact were very friendly and helpful throughout. Wish we could have stayed longer and definitely plan to return.

Graham T.  from U.K. visited in September 2012

The location makes this apartment - the views are really amazing and it is great to wake up to the sound of the sea and views of the beach.

The bay itself is excellent - lovely beach, great snorkelling and the Boat House is highly recommended.
The apartment has everything you need for a perfect stay. The children loved our 'treehouse', the wildlife that surrounded it and the minute walk to the beach!

We would not hesitate to recommend it.

If you are looking for the finest construction with the best view in Castara, this is the place.

Make sure you stock up on supplies before coming in from the Airport and you are set!

Only a few minor issues to be aware of. Wednesday night there will be some partying music from the beach bar, and possibly on Friday. Be careful not to overdo the sun, the rum and the amazing snorkeling like I did, it is so amazing it is hard to stop. This would be my first choice of any accommodation in Castara Tobago.

Ross and Jane from Canada visited in January 2012

“If you are looking for tranquillity, peace, wave sounds and a laid back atmosphere, this is the place. We spent 5 nights in late January 2012 in Wave Song. The unit was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped and we did cook a number of our meals. Dining on the balcony with moonlight and crashing waves is an experience we will not forget. The caretakers, Rolling & Lavorne were wonderful hosts and gave us many hints on the local sites to visit, where to eat, etc. Being so close to the beach was a definite plus and Heavenly Bay is quiet and the swimming very safe. We would highly recommend Seascape.”

Gigi from U.S.A. visited in July 2011

“My family and I thoroughly enjoyed Seascape. David was quick to respond to my inquiry as I was a bit last minute with the booking. The caretaker Rolling and his wife were really sweet and welcoming. The place itself was tasteful-vacation/cottage vibe but modern and clean. The view is spectacular. The kitchen was well stocked. Some beer and water were complimentary. There was a boogie board and binoculars that my nephew enjoyed. Castara in general is my favorite spot in Tobago. We had a really positive experience all around. We took some day excursions and were always happy to return to seascape to rest. My only complaints was that the fridgerator wasn't working perfectly (but i brought it to owners attention) and the circular mosquito nets are not my personal favorite. In my opinion these complaints are so minor. I highly recommend seascape and any of Davids properties. Also seemed that the village had a positive opinion of David and his wife, which was nice to hear.”

Guido from Italy visited in July 2011

We stayed at Seascape in July 2011 for 10 days in the Sunset apt. We were 2 adults, me and my wife, and three kids, 1, 9, and 11 years old.

The house is very good for a family, with two large bedrooms and an excellent kitchen and dining room, with a view more than spectacular. In the morning you can look the sea and the sunset is a very good moment.......

Rolling, the man who follows the houses, was very kind and available, despite the birth of a baby in the days we were there.

I can surely recommend this sistemation!!!!

We loved SeaScape! The climb from the street isn't for anyone that has bad knees...but well worth it! When you open the bifold doors to walk out onto the balcony every bit of stress that you carried with you until that moment falls away! The sound of the waves crashing on the shore, the birds calling each other and watching the sunset over the ocean is magical. After the sunsets and you are sitting on the balcony and the first firefly blinks in the darkness you feel like you've come home! Everyone should be lucky enough to experience the magic of SeaScape during their stay on Tabago in the loveliest of villages Castara.

Lauren from U.S.A. visited in August 2010

"We discovered SeaScape on accident. We were originally planning on spending the Tobago part of our honeymoon in Crown Point at Kariwak Village. They ended up giving our reservation away so we were stuck finding another place to stay. I called around to different places and eventually was referred to SeaScape by the people at Blue Mango in Castara (they were full). David (the proprietor) was more than accommodating and made reservation process easy (this is not the case with other places in Tobago).

I can't believe how lucky we were that we ended up at SeaScape!! The place is an an absolute dream (and a great value!). It's literally a little tree-house on a cliff overlooking a beautiful bay. It's clearly lovingly cared for and everything is modern and clean. You fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing and wake up to breakfast with an amazing view.

As we were on honeymoon we appreciated the privacy of the place along with the extremely chill and not-overly-touristy nature of Castara. We were originally planing on traipsing around the island but we felt so relaxed and satisfied in Castara we spent the bulk of our time there. When the time came for us to say goodbye we were so sad!! I would go back to Seascape and Castara in a heartbeat and am already recommending it to friends. We will definitely be back!

Our sentiments were only underlined on our way out. We had a little time before our flight left so we walked around Crown Point a little bit to see if we had missed out on anything. We certainly did not! We found it very un-charming and overly-touristy. The white sands of Store Bay were nice, but not nearly as nice as the beach below Seascape. All in all we couldn't have been happier with our experience at SeaScape!"

Ethan75 from U.K. visited in April 2009

“This is the first time we have ever written a review, but this place was just incredible!!

This wasn't only a room with a breathtaking view, the shower was unreal... you can see the whole bay, the amazing sunset & the fisherman all from the shower!!

The house was very clean, best location in castara & really as you can tell we loved it! Its been built so you feel like you are living in your very own private treehouse.

Rain forest is 15min drive away, through beautiful traffic free roads, englishmans bay is 5min drive which is stunning! we were scared of the crime in tobago due to what we read beforehand, but not once did we feel in any way uncomfortable, the locals can be a little abrupt but soon soften. all in all had the best time, but this was due to seascape, the romance of the place is hard to beat. “

Bridget from U.K. visited in August 2010

"Looking to get away from it all and have special quiet family time Seascape provided the most perfect holiday destination. It has a most wonderful intimate feel. The views from the living area and bedroom are just stunning. We would wake to watch the pelicans feeding and later the fisherman pulling in nets. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked fish purchased from the local fisherman off the beach. Salad, fruit and vegetables could be brought from a seller who came to the door.

Castara is uncommercialised, friendly and felt safe which with two girls (9 and 10)is important.

The sea was safe to swim in and we enjoyed snorkeling most days."

Matthias from Germany visited in April 2010

"Superb panoramic sea-view (even from the shower) - best location in Castara - comfortable and cosy. We would have liked to stay longer and hope to come back some day.

Best regards to you David and also to Rollin!"

Anna Costantini from U.K. visited in September 2009

“My now finace and i stayed at seascape for a few nights in September. A lovely set up, gorgeous views, and the chalet, although simple, had everything you could need, and the towels and bed linen were lovely!

The view from the upstairs bedroom was gorgeous, the main attraction i think, so good infact, that my boyfriend at the time changed his plans to propose on one of the beaches in the areas, and proposed on the balconey instead, at sunset!!”

Tim Boon from U.K. visited in February 2010

"This was our forth visit to Castara and our first time at Seascape. We stayed in both apartments and loved them both. The views from the balconies are absolutely stunning. One could spend the whole day sitting out, watching the wildlife and in particular the birds. We spent hours watching pelicans seagulls and frigate birds swirling around and diving for fish.

The apartment was well designed for relaxed holiday living and was equipped and furnished to a very high standard. Absolutely everything was provided and in excellent condition. The property manager was friendly and helpful and gave us a full briefing when we arrived. He also checked a couple of times to see whether we had any problems. The apartment is located in the centre of the village, close to several small homely restaurants and only 100 yards from the beach. The local people are friendly and there are lots of oportunities to take guided tours and boat rides. One of the highlights of the day is watch the fishermen landing their catches and preparing the fish for sale to allcomers.

Castara is a fun place to stay. It's laid back, uncommercialised yet provides all the facilities that are needed to have a great time. There are sufficient shops for daily living but we found it useful to do a big shop before we came to Castara. There are several bars and restaurants but our favourite was Margarites where we ate several times. My wife enjoyed a wonderful lobster there. I tried goat rather tentatively, but it was delicious.
We are already in the process of booking up for next year."

Randy and Brenda from U.S.A. visited in August 2009

“When my wife and I planned our trip to Tobago we were looking forward to getting away from the same old predictable touristy vacation spot. We did some homework and found Sea Scape at Heavenly Bay. It was perfect! Sea Scape is perched within a thick green canopy just above two beautiful beaches that offer both corals for snorkeling or white sands for sunbathing. We also found ourselves just a short walk of several restaurants, groceries, and lots of local nightlife. We were very happy to find our accommodations did not disappoint either. Sea scape is a wonderfully open wood constructed apartment with everything we were looking for. It was clean, spacious (plenty of room for a family), and offered beautiful ocean views. With lots of fresh fish and produce available we were able to enjoy many romantic meals in the dining room thanks to the well appointed kitchen. Its proximity to the beach ensured we were lulled to sleep nightly by the sounds of crashing waves. Sea Scape is a must if you are looking for a nice relaxing getaway. We will definitely be going back.”

Linda Levy from U.S.A. visited in December 2009

"I had the good fortune to stay at Seascape for three nights last week. I stayed in both cottages, WaveSong and Sunset and loved them both. WaveSong has a large balcony with folding doors that turn the entire main room into the outdoors. We spent all our time out there! Sunset is a bit larger, with an upstairs bedroom that also has an attached balcony. Both cottages overlook Heavenly Bay and the sound of the waves is ever-present. On New Year's Day I woke to the sight of the full moon reflecting the newly rising sun over the water -- amazing.

Both cottages come complete with linens and everything you need for the kitchen/dining. Unusual for Tobago, the owners also supply some very nice soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion! The kitchen and baths are modern and immaculate. The property manager, Rollin, is very nice and helpful.

Seascape is very conveniently located to the beach at Heavenly Bay and the Boathouse restaurant, and just a quick walk to the main beach of Castara (use the dirt footpath that takes you up behind Blue Mango) and the shops there. The "Fruit King of Castara" (not to be confused with the "Fruit King of Speyside") visits every morning. Be sure to ask the price first, he can be a little pricey, but of course will bargain.
We have spent Xmas/New Year's in Tobago for the last nine years, and have always searched for the perfect accommodation -- this is it!"

Lensen from Netherlands visited in May 2009

“We have found Seascape an absolute place of serenity. Relaxing at the beach, waiting for the fisherman to come back, get some fish from them, and cook it on the spot, at the beach! Absolutely brilliant!

The owner and manager have really helped us out with the transport from Trinidad. They have proven to be people you can count on.

“The apartments themselves are everything you need and could wish for. Everything is there. And even more important, the view in the evening is to die for.

The overall experience was perfect, and would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for all your help David,”

mtomarnny from U.S.A. visited in June 2009

“Stayed at Seascape for a week and loved it. The view alone from the bedroom is worth the trip. The spacious, clean rental overlooks the water and had all the comforts of home. The beach was less than a one minute walk and the town of Castara had a wonderful energy full of warm and gracious locals. The roti at Vera's restaurant shouldn't be missed! I would highly recommend a visit to Castara Bay and a stay at Seascape. If you're looking for a serene setting to relax and recharge than look no further, this is the place!”
